Briefly, I’ve decided to join the May 1st Reboot this year. It makes sense really, seeing as I’ve been working on a new ‘refreshed’ design of this site for a while now with no real unleash date in mind and thus, no real impetus. Now I have a reason to finish it.
For those who don’t know, the May 1 Reboot is a yearly event which takes place on the 1st of May (strangely enough) which basically showcases the new designs of websites. Shit, that’s a really poor description.. ignore that.. They explain it much better than I do; look at the website.
The past couple of years have produced some really nice results and I just thought it’d be nice to be part of the fun. I’m trying to ready a range of other things aside from the new design which will accompany my reboot but we’ll see what I can muster in 3 weeks..
Went and saw Fallout Boy last weekend.. I wasn’t a massive fan prior to Saturday, and I’m still not. Despite the remarkable amount of spinning around Pete Wentz did, they just lacked any oomph. They were loud, but not great. Not even as good as they were at Reading last year. However, the 2 support bands made it worthwhile.
Shiny Toy Guns & Cobra Starship. I downloaded both their albums a month or so ago (just to get an idea of what they’d be like) and if you’re an avid viewer of my last.fm profile then you’ll have noticed that I’ve been getting quite into them. I kinda preferred the synthetic funk sound of STG to start with but lately it’s all been about Cobra Starship. Especially after seeing them live. Crazy dope. Just the fact that they’re called Cobra Starship is worth applaud, let alone actually judging them on the music. Their album While The City Sleeps, We Rule The Streets came out yesterday over here, and it’s definitely worth picking up if you’re into that type of thing. Or even if you’re not. I mean, I’m generally not, but I like it.
If you want to try before you buy, I’ve uploaded a track from the album and there are also some youtube videos knocking about. Oh, and they had a song on Snakes On A Plane which you might’ve heard. Good stuff.
