Woo! I’m in a magazine!

A month or so ago I was a tad bored so I entered a photoshop competition on flickr and came up with this.. To be honest, I thought it was just a flickr-based thing so I didn’t really expect too much. But then I was selected second and got a note saying it’d be in a magazine.. and now it is! Good stuff.

You can get the magazine at all good newsagents now, so if you’re into digital cameras, you might as well. And then turn to page 96 for the hotness. (Or just see the photo I took of the page).

The only downside is that they printed that I’m from Norfolk. Which I’m not. It’s odd, but it’s like they completely plucked that out of nowhere.. very strange. Never believe the media!

A while ago, I did a post called ‘scpgt! as featured on..‘ which listed a few sites that linked back to me because of my super fresh design skills.. Just out of curiosity, I checked the links again earlier and a couple are currently down for whatever reason. It made me panic and think ‘Christ, what if they all go for good and I look like I made it all up?!?!’ so I decided to go and take screenshots of all the one’s I could find. And what better place to store them than flickr(?) So now they’re on flickr. Here, in fact. So go there if you don’t believe that there’s a lot of love out there.

A recent video chat..

I haven’t really played Halo since some frenetic multiplayer games many years ago in my first year of uni (which were fucking great; 4 on 4 capture the flag, trying to take a peek at the other teams screen to see where they were sniping you from etc. Brilliant.), and Halo 2 completely passed me by but the next game is definitely getting my attention. The various adverts(/promo things) have been rather good, but the new site is stunning. Have a look. Super smooth tracking around a super detailed model = super nice experience. I really like the snippets of information from ‘veterans’ of the war too.. It’s engaging and does a great job of building up the whole Halo mythology.

I don’t want to sound too ‘geekish’, but it does look spanking. Yet another reason to splash out on a 360 (along with GTA4 and Call of Duty 4). I dunno why I’m holding out really..

So I thought I’d make proper use of this, my ‘matt northam‘ domain and transfer my blog here. It makes sense really.. I was always a bit iffy about having the blog on my portfolio site (scpgt) because it’s not exactly work related. So now it’s a separate entity. I’m still not sure what I’m going to do with my personal domain but I’m sure it’ll be more personal in nature.. the blog is a first step.

It’s a new blog design to go with the new location, and while I’m almost happy with it, I’m sure it’ll change soon enough.. Same goes for the portfolio site, because that was geared toward featuring my blog on the front page, and now it doesn’t quite work. Changes abound. Things’ll never be the same. That’s just the way it is. Oh yeah.

(ps. Just wanted to mention that the blog moving thing was made oh so painless thanks to this plugin. Good stuff.)
